Dr Aydin Abadi

Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Cybersecurity at Newcastle University.

Aydin designs and analyses cryptographic protocols for private computation, private data access and verifiable exchange. His work also includes cryptanalysis of proposed protocols and security arguments. He leads the lab’s research programme and supervises its doctoral researchers.

Hamed develops privacy-preserving federated learning for resource-constrained devices. His research examines how clients with limited computation, memory or energy can participate in delegated training without exposing private data, using tools including homomorphic encryption and secure computation.

Jakub works across cryptography, AI security and distributed computation. His research focuses on attacks against distributed machine-learning systems and on verifiable, privacy-preserving methods, including applications in healthcare.

Ishak develops privacy-preserving data-cleaning methods for federated learning. He studies how distributed datasets can be made more consistent and reliable while limiting disclosure of sensitive records, with applications in healthcare and financial services.
